(*)We use meteorologic data from our meteorological station in Destnice near Saaz. 30-years average (1981 – 2010) according to Czech Hydrometeorological Institute is being used as long-term average. (Up to 2016 the 1961 – 1990 average has been used.)

Comment:

June was extraordinary warm, the warmest in the last 15 years when the long-term average was exceeded by 4,21°C. Within 10 tropical days the temperature exceeded 30°C. The highest day temperature 38°C was measured on June 26. The precipitations were unevenly distributed and reached in Saaz area 35,4-57,4 mm and water deficiency was hereby deepened in the most of hop gardens. Extremely high amount of sunshine 320,2 hours exceeded the long-term average by 109 hours. The health state of the hops is satisfactory for the time being. The appearance of Hop Aphids was eliminated by well timed chemical treatment. Warm weather was also optimal for development of Red Spider Mite which was spotted so far at the edge of hop gardens. Thanks to the third and fourth treatments against Peronospora its appearance was not detected. Fertilizing of hops and second hilling will be completed soon.
