Comment:

In comparison with long-term average August was standard regarding temperature and markedly above-average as to precipitation. The amount of rainfall days reached 23 ! During this month chemical protection particularly against Peronospora continued.Sufficient precipitation created extremely favourable conditions for spread of this disease and part of growth was harmed by Peronospora later this month. On 25th August night-times Saaz region was hit by a strong rainstorm which caused the fall of about 120 hectares of hop gardens. The most of farmers started their hop harvest from 15th to 20th August. The havest is presumed to be finished till 10th September. The attached photo shows hop on hop picking machine on 30th August.
